Di-Octyl Phthalate (C24H38O4) is an ester of phthalic acid. It appears as a light-colored, odorless liquid. Dioctyl phthalate. Acts as a wildest aid-plasticizer in processing of plastics with transparent liquid oil appearance. Is highly stable to light and soluble in most solvents. Has very good synthetical properties, good mixture, high plasticizing, low volatility, good insulation and low migration. Also has a good compatibility with cellulose nitrate.
Uses :
It is used as a plasticizer for many resins and elastomers. As a PVC plasticizer, DOP is used in formulations of screen printing inks. Known for its good stability to heat and ultraviolet light, DOP can be used in applications such as paints, lacquers, inks, adhesives, and sealants.
